I feel that a lot of people believe that poetry should be interpreted how it is, and left unexplained by the writer… but I really don’t like the feeling of a message falling through the cracks! What I was saying here was that no matter how much my parents tried to keep me from drinking in high school, or tried to protect me from making mistakes with boys, it wasn’t until I went through the mistakes myself that I actually had something to learn from. Sometimes you need a little taste of the disease to prevent it.
